When the prices were recorded
This export holds 10 observation dates. Each one is a snapshot of what the source pages showed that day, so coverage varies with what was listed and priced at the time. Collection is not continuous: the longest break in this export runs 269 days, ending Jun 13, 2026. Nothing is recorded about prices inside a gap.

A fixed basket, measured the same way each time
Counting how many products changed says nothing about what the changes cost. This basket holds the 1,922 products priced in every qualifying observation, so the same items are compared at every point and the total cannot move because the product mix changed. Its combined cost has risen 0.7% between Jun 13, 2026 and Sep 28, 2026.

This is an equally weighted total of recorded shelf prices at one source. It is not inflation, not a consumer price index, and not a cost-of-living measure: it applies no household spending weights, covers only products this site recorded continuously, and reflects one retailer's public pages.
Direction across the whole record
Across every product with a price history, 1,033 are above their first recorded price and 130 are below it - about 8 products have risen for every one that has fallen. Most products have not moved at all: 4,334 of 5,497 carry the same price as their first observation.
- Above first recorded price
- 1,033
- Below first recorded price
- 130
- Unchanged since first observation
- 4,334
This compares each product's first and latest recorded price over an irregular schedule with one long collection gap, at a single source. It is a property of this dataset, not a measurement of prices in Saint Lucia.
What each figure means
- Recorded price
- The price shown on a public source page at the moment of recording, in Eastern Caribbean dollars. It is not a quote, and it may have changed since.
- Observation date
- The date a snapshot was taken. Every observation belongs to exactly one observation date; nothing is recorded about the days in between.
- Observation
- One product priced on one observation date. The observation count is the total across all products and dates.
- Price history
- The series of recorded prices for one product, in date order. A product needs at least two observations before any change can be measured.
- Change
- The difference between a product's latest recorded price and the previous price recorded for that same product. The window varies by product, because updates do not cover every product every time.
- First observation
- A product priced for the first time on this site. First observations are never counted as price changes, because there is nothing to compare against.
- Recorded high / low
- The highest and lowest price this site has recorded for a product. Not an all-time shelf price - only what was recorded.
- Category
- A public grouping applied by this site to make browsing possible. It is this site's classification, not the source's own department name.
Evidence
What the data shows
- Scale and structure of the published observation dataset.
- That coverage is limited to the imported source market pages.
Boundaries
What the data does not show
- Official statistics for Saint Lucia.
- Complete retail coverage of every store or parish.
Editorial standards
How this report was checked
- Every headline figure is locked to the published export. The build compares the numbers in this report against the data files and refuses to publish the page if they disagree, so the text and the dataset cannot drift apart.
- Interpretive wording is written and reviewed by a person before a report is approved for publication. Figures are computed, never hand-typed.
- Reports are published after an update is added to the site. Updates are irregular rather than on a fixed weekly schedule, and every report states the dates it covers.
- Corrections are made on this page rather than quietly replaced. If a figure is restated, the change is listed below with its date.
Revisions
- Sep 28, 2026 Refreshed for the 28 September 2026 observation: 7,678 tracked products and 39,678 recorded price observations from the published source market.
- Sep 1, 2026 Refreshed for the 1 September 2026 observation: the export now holds 32,859 price observations across 5,555 products.
- Aug 16, 2026 Refreshed for the 16 August 2026 observation: the export now holds 27,970 price observations across 5,371 products and seven observation dates.
